Title:
Replicating Primacy Effects in Impression Formation
consent_explanation1
Primary Investigators:
Chris Chartier, Sarah Fisher
consent_explanation2
A. PURPOSE AND BACKGROUND
Solomon Asch’s original study on primacy effects in impression formation found that the connotation of adjectives that are first in a list influence people’s first impressions about whoever the list of adjectives is describing (Asch, 1946). A recent study successfully replicated Asch’s original findings, increasing the robustness of primacy effects in impression formation (Sullivan, 2019). The current study will seek to find similar results to the recent replication study, with the goal of replicating Asch’s findings in primacy effects.
